Support Throughout Your Journey

 

From the start of your treatment journey, your Vertex Connects Care Manager will be with you. They understand the gene-therapy process and have experience working with patients and their caregivers.

After enrolling* in Vertex Connects, your Care Manager will:

 

Connect in a way that works best for you—whether it’s by email or phone

Answer key questions about the treatment process and share useful guides to help you and your loved ones prepare for each step

Keep in touch with your treatment center team to help coordinate the logistics of your treatment journey

Spend time getting to know you so they can provide meaningful support

Determine eligibility for additional treatment-related support programs, such as travel and lodging assistance*

*Eligibility requirements and restrictions apply. A completed Vertex Connects enrollment form is needed to participate in the program and determine eligibility for certain program offerings.

Enrollment in Vertex Connects Patient Support is not required to receive Vertex gene therapy.

Working With Your Care Manager

Your Care Manager can be an extended member of your support network. They are available when you have questions and can help you understand what to expect during the treatment process with a Vertex gene therapy. Here are some tips to help guide your Care Manager conversations:

Talking to your Care Manager about your treatment journey goals can help them know the best ways to support you. Share what's most important to you—what you look forward to, and what’s on your mind at each step in the journey. It is okay if these thoughts change throughout the process based on what you learn and experience during each step.

If you have questions or concerns about any step in the treatment process, let your healthcare team and Care Manager know. They are there to help you work through the unknowns you may face along the way.

Care Managers are available Monday through Friday, from 8 AM to 8 PM ET. And even if you call after hours, your Care Manager will get back to you within the next business day. Remember, they are just a phone call or email away.

Getting Started With Vertex Connects

Starting on a Vertex gene therapy? Find out how you can enroll in Vertex Connects.

After you and your healthcare provider decide that gene therapy is right for you, you’ll work with your healthcare team to gather the information needed to start the treatment process. At this point, you’ll receive a Vertex Connects enrollment form.

You and a family member or friend can fill out the form together. It will ask you for personal information, such as contact details and communication preferences, so that your Care Manager can reach out in a way that works best for you.

Step 3

Start connecting on your Welcome Call

After a completed enrollment form is submitted, your Care Manager will review your information and reach out to officially welcome you to the program.

During your Welcome Call, they will:

  • Walk you through the treatment journey and what to expect as you get started
  • Answer questions you may have
  • Review the Vertex Connects support programs you are eligible for
  • Share educational tools and resources
